A teacher for the West Jefferson Hills School District has been suspended with pay after police charged him in relation to a 2013 drug bust.
South Park police charged the 41 year old teacher with several counts, including felony drug manufacturing, and misdemeanor possession charges. The charges all stem from an alleged hidden marijuana grow operation, which police reportedly found in the man's home. Officers allegedly discovered the grow operation when they went to the teacher's home on September 17, 2013 in order to check on his 23 year old girlfriend. Officials have not disclosed details as to why officers needed to check on the girlfriend, or how in particular they came across the alleged grow.
The accused, an industrial arts teacher at Thomas Jefferson High School, and his girlfriend turned themselves in on to police on Wednesday. He has been suspended with pay from his job, after the school district concluded that the charges did not have any connection with the school, the school district, or the teacher's students.
